What is the Agave Smoothing Treatment?
Agave Smoothing Treatment is an innovative plant-based, amino acid-based system that is 100% formaldehyde free and can be used to reduce your overall frizz, increase your manageability and maintain your natural texture. Amino acids along with plant-based ingredients such as agave extracts help to soften the hair cuticle and attract water moisture, leaving the hair feeling more silky and shiny than before. How much time does it take?
Time required depends on hair length, type, and texture, as well as the desired result you want to achieve. Please allow a minimum of 2 hours.
 
What results can be expected?
For approximately 12 weeks you can expect reduced frizz, increased manageability, and faster drying times. Your hair will feel healthier overall and more hydrated, increasing curl retention by up to 80%.

Can hair be colored before the treatment?
Recommendation is to color after the treatment is complete. Single color applications, glazes and toners can all be applied 20 minutes after service is complete. For any highlights or bleach we recommend waiting a minimum of 3 days.

Can the treatment be done on hair that has been colored, straightened or relaxed?
Yes, Agave Smoothing can be done on all previous chemical treatments with the exception of Henna. Please consult with your stylist before proceeding if you have any questions/concerns.  
 
How many days after the treatment before the hair can get wet or be washed?
After treatment is complete client must wait a minimum of 20 minutes before hair can be washed out. In most cases, clients will wait until the next day.
 
Can the hair get wet, be pulled back or clipped during the 72 hour waiting period?
Yes, unlike with keratin treatments.
 
What kind of shampoo and conditioner should be used?
We recommend using Agave Smoothing Shampoo and Agave Smoothing Conditioner to maintain the best results.

How often can the treatment be done?
Every 12 weeks usually works best. Either full-head or just the re-growth
 
Is the re-application of the treatment done on the entire head or just on new growth?
It is the choice of the stylist and client, but usually done on the new growth.

How long will the treatment last?
The treatment lasts up to 12 weeks, depending on hair type and texture, provided the client follows all after care instructions.

Should the hair be cut before or after the treatment?
Haircuts can be done before or after, but are typically done before.
 
Can the treatment be done on pregnant or nursing women?
Yes! No doctor’s approval is needed as Agave Smoothing does not contain any harmful ingredients. Results may vary depending on hormone levels.

Can the treatment be done on children?
Yes! And as always, with parental approval. While keratin treatments are not recommended for use on pre-pubescent children.
