Eyelash Extensions

What Are Eyelash Extensions and How Are They Applied?

Eyelash extensions are done by adhering a synthetic lash extension to the natural lash with a medical grade adhesive. First, your lash artist takes special care, detail, and consistency to make sure your eyes are protected. Secondly, your artist will provide you the best application possible to make them last, look great, and to not disturb your natural lash growth.

If you’re challenged by your straight, light colored eyelashes, and tired of having to wear a lot of mascara just for your eyelashes to show up, then eyelash extensions are a great solution. Extensions are great for special occasions, but they are also durable enough to wear day to day.

Salon Dushons uses only the highest quality eyelash extensions, and can create a look that fits your style and budget.

There are two types/techniques of lash artistry, Classic & Volume. The techniques will be chosen upon consultation, as well as client’s request and needs.

Classic Lashes

Classic lashes is a type of technique that suits most clients, the method includes one single, thicker diameter lash extension per one natural lash. Your lash artist will use the appropriate thickness for your lashes. Everyone is different and finer lashes cannot support heavier extensions.

Volume Lashes

Volume lashes is a technique that your lash artist has taken continued education for. This is a very special and unique technique that includes adhering 2-6 extremely fine lashes per single natural lash, still weighing less than the natural lash itself. This technique allows for added fullness, and helps fill in natural gapping, all while retaining the clients lash health.

FAQs

Q. Do Lash Extensions Hurt My Natural Lashes?

Only IF your lash artist, and you, are not following directions. Otherwise, NO! Lash extensions can actually promote healthy growth when you follow the guidelines for care. Since you will not be taking mascara on and off every day, it allows for lashes to grow in between the extensions. Lash extensions are a win-win!

Q. How Long Do They Last?

Lashes usually last at least 2 weeks, 3 weeks for many, and sometimes even 4 weeks if you're very loving to them. Regular fills are required for proper maintenance.

Q. Can I Still Wear Makeup?

Absolutely! Just NONE of the listed products in Special Lash Care. Otherwise yes, enjoy makeup as normal!

Q. What Are Lashes Made From?

A synthetic polyester. Synthetic lashes respond better to wear and tear than other materials. Synthetic has the least possible chance of allergic reactions with human skin. Testing has shown that there are higher percentages of people who will have adverse reactions to contact with lash extensions created from animal hairs, such as the common mink lash.

Q. How Long Does the Procedure Take?

Lashing is a cozy 1.5-2 hour process for full sets. Fill appointments are 45 min-1 hour. Many clients enjoy a relaxing “lash nap” during this time. Your lash artist strives to provide a comforting environment for you to relax and enjoy the service.

Special Lash Care Requirements

  • No picking, pulling, rubbing or tugging on your lashes! They will damage your natural lashes, ruin the work that's been done, and they will surely fall out.

  • Keep any oily substances, removers, creams, away from lashes. They will disturb the adhesion and break the bond.

  • Keep cotton swabs and Q-tips away from eyes. Cotton threads can wrap easily around the extension and cause a painful tangle that can irritate the eyes.

  • Sleep on your back, or at least just be gentle with your sleeping habits. Beauty sometimes requires sacrifices!

  • WASH your lashes…your lash artist can assist you with these directions. It will include a lash wash, or a mild baby soap diluted. If you do not wash your lashes, you CAN develop lash mite bacteria. No one wants this. Debris from the air, makeup, and natural oils all can build up in the base of the lash and cause bacteria buildup. So please care for your lashes. You will be glad you did!

  • NO waterproof mascara, long-wear eye products, oils, or temporary lash glues. They clog your extensions, make a mess for your lash artist, and will ruin the clean application of extensions. Otherwise, enjoy your shadows, liners, etc. freely!
